Essentiel Antwerp Fall Winter 2013

Essentiel Antwerp, out of a lovestory grew a brand, a Belgian brand to be proud of. Their new Fall - Winter collection is about the only reason why I long for Autumn to arrive.  Think: long cosy vests, modern sweatpants and sneakers mixed with military and animal prints in dark colours and the occasional bright pink. What's not to love about these pieces - except their price maybe?

Urban? Check. Chic? Check.

Denim on Denim

Sure, we already all adored denim, as long as it was one piece and not two. For years head-to-toe denim, also known as the Canadian tuxedo, was a big faux pas. Many eyebrows were raised to those guilty of this fashion blunder, but -who would have guessed- the denim on denim trend is recycled and back to being hot!

The rules about ‘how to wear denim on denim’ are lately on top of the list of style advise in fashion magazines and blogs. Word is you should combine light denim shades with darker ones, add some contrasting accessories in bright colours, wear heels to lighten the heavy look of head-to-toe denim.. Although this is some good undeniable advise, I would say: anything goes, be creative, the options are nearly endless! (unless you have the fashion sense of Britney and Justin of course)

My favourite head-to-toe denim look:

Denim Shirt - modemusthaves, Studded Shorts - Reverse, Sunglasses - Asos, Bracelets - Asos, Platform Sandals - Zara, Watch - Marc Jacobs, Bag - Stella McCartney

Hope to see you all soon in your Canadian Tuxedo!

Brand to love Kurt Geiger

The first time I met Kurt Geiger in the enormous Topshop store at Oxford Circus, I instantly fell in love.  Kurt Geiger dares to be different. The Summer Spring ‘11 collection displayed spiked high heels, metallic courts, animal prints and vividly colored statement shoes, reflecting the newest trends.

The shoe brand shows a long affinity with Britain’s fashion capital, London. In 1963 Kurt Geiger opened its first boutique on Bond Street London. Along followed boutiques not only throughout the UK, but also in the Middle East, Italy, France and Ireland. The last two years, the brand gained even more global reputation as it expanded to San Francisco and New York.

During my trip to London last week, a visit to the Kurt Geiger flagship store in Covent Garden London, described as ‘the jewel in its crown’ was therefore indispensable. Overwhelmed I was! Located in the heart of one of London’s most beautiful places, the store consists of mirrored surfaces, a shoe chandelier and two floors of endless plinths filled with shoes. A sweet shop for shoe addicts like myself!

Monochrome colours, metallic, studs, animal and army prints form the Kurt Geiger summer collections. I’ve never seen so many fabulous shoes together, platformed sandals, trainers, high heeled court shoes, wedges  and I couldn’t resist! I especially loved their trainers, in all kinds of fabrics and prints. When I caught sight of the leopard trainers I knew they were going to be mine, before I could even say 'can I try them in a 38 please?'

My trainers are part of the Carvela Kurt Geiger collection. Besides the Kurt Geiger and Carvela collection, the brand also has a KG Kurt Geiger, Miss KG, Mr KG and the must have accessories 'Everything but the dress'  collection. Next time you're in London, don't walk by the Kurt Geiger store, and if you can't wait, go to the online Kurt Geiger shop for some shoes to love!
